I think we should definitely try to exchange it before January 8, tbh. I also feel like it’s sort of a minor issue (since it comes and goes), but definitely hardware related. I have it set to 1 refresh per minute but still no luck finding my model. My solution has been to check my local store’s inventory using this macOS app that can notify you when your desired config is available in your local store (if you open the app it will also show you all available models in every store within I think a 30-50 mile radius), and it can refresh anywhere between once every minute to once every hour. So I can’t just return this one and order and wait a month or so for delivery or wait for in store availability.

I can’t survive a day without my laptop, and my other MacBook Pro is still at the hands of Apple (being repaired under the keyboard service program, it’s taking them AGES).
I might try this myself and report back, unless I see someone else do it first. If it doesn't and you can audibly hear that sound coming out of the speaker with the bottom off, it's probably an issue with these speakers, which really sucks. If it does, it's something to do with those two pieces touching, maybe some kind of tolerance problem. You might try removing the bottom case and seeing if the crackling goes away. I believe that this is a manufacturing problem where part of one of the speakers is physically touching the bottom of the case. I did however notice that I feels like the speaker is actually touching another part of the laptop (Like having a piece of paper sitting on a subwoofer) and pulled the bottom of the case down slightly around the air vent and that seems to help. because some people solved this on older models like that, but it did nothing for me. I tried setting the output format to all 4 settings (44.1KHz, 48Khz, etc. Hey, I just started having the same problem with my 16". The feedback number is FB9776363, so creating duplicates might also be helpful, in case it turns out to be a software bug. I have also submitted a bug report for unexpected behaviour with Core Audio API. If you have this issue, I would suggest reporting it to Apple, as a greater number of reports will hopefully give it a priority. The guy said that they have an open ticket about the issue and engineers will investigate. I will be very thankful if someone, who experiences the same issue and has wired headphones, can check this for me. Unfortunately, I don't have any wired headphones and won't be able to get ones in the next month.

If it is, the crackling should be persistent when using wired headphones (the trick won't work over Bluetooth ones). However, he said that it might be a chip-related issue. The guy told me that a faulty speaker is unlikely, especially as it happens with both speakers at the same time (at least in my case, I think I saw people saying it's just from one side, however, they might be talking about a different issue). Delete the .plist and .plist filesĪfter this I tried listening to the same YouTube videos and Spotify and no longer had any crackling/popping so far.Go > Computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences > Audio.I contacted Apple Support about the issue and they suggested to look for a few specific ‘.plist’ files which didn’t exist in my case. Noticed it while listening to some music videos on YouTube with the internal speakers, no monitors or other peripherals connected. I was having the same issue with an 2021 M1 Max 16" w/ 24-cores, only started noticing it today after a few months of otherwise unproblematic usage.
